almost any night of the week.

And then after lounging at home drinking a hard cider in my flannel shirt i decided why not bake some yummy gluten free vegan brownies.  Oh my my my was that the best thought of the night last night.  So gooey soft and delicious... and poured myself a glass of hemp milk to go along with.  Geeze it's been quite some time since i've baked something and could actually lick the spoon. mmmmmm.

Okay so i may have been slightly inspired by Hannah Glasby in this shoot by Darren McDonald from ColdAfterMidnight. This guy is one of my absolutely favorite photographers... it's just too bad some months ago he removed almost all of his freelance photowork from his blog.  His blog which used to be described as

"Darren has a way of capturing sweet innocence.  Cold after midnight is more like a boyfriends blog showing off how beautiful his girlfriend, true love despite the girl goes from Avril Alexander to Hannah Glasby to Kate Dilliwaard to Danah Marks.  Personal work mixed with previews to his photoshhots around the world. " - capitalcitypretty.com

has now been revamped into more of a commercial portfolio.  I must say i miss this old raw authenticity his blog portrayed in the past.  I'd absolutely love for him to release some of his old posts once again.  The blog world is empty without his previous work.

Saturday i had a big day full of parties!  Always exciting.  Got up early...jetted off to work for a couple hours in the hair salon... afterwards it was time for some hardcore freshening up.  Had some chipped acrylic nails that needed a super touchup...finished off with MAGNIFICO MEXICO an eye popping orange nail shade i was dying to find after scoping a new Fade to Black blog post, It's All About the Orange.  Oh man...ladies ths girl is sooo daring she actually rocked out some bold orange lip color and made it work fabulously... i was about to just dye when i decided to just give it a try in one way or another and i dare you to too.  i swear its like the best new color of the season! (Gotta give a shout out to this girl Gemma Rowlands... she is so innovative in the way she styles herself and she is also a crazy designer as well.  For any of you who haven't heard of her you gotta keep up with her blog...its fantastic)

Okay so first stop after sprucing up was my girl Erika's baby shower (my ex boyfriend's little sister's shower) up in Vancouver... so of course i had to make an amazing impression on the family who i hadn't seen in quite some time.  I was pretty much going for "why in the hell did you let HER go??!"  And basically got grandma lookin me up and down and telling auntie "Oh my word...she's stunning!"  The three of us ended the night swapping beauty tips and such.  Mission Accomplished.  And as for erika and the rest of the family.. i really do love them dearly and had such a wonderful time spending time together playing baby shower games and laughing with old stories.  And no of course it was not all in vain.. i really feel I am so blessed to have gained a lifelong friend through my heartbreak.  Life works out exactly how it's supposed to i suppose.

Next stop was my momma's best friends dinner party.  Wine. Homemade appetizers. Chicken marsala. Spinach artichoke salad. Party games. And enough drunken laughs to last at least until the next couple weeks.  I never knew i could have such fun with a couple girlfriends and a bunch of forty year old couples.  Definately worth spending a saturday night in for a change.  I will try to snag some pictues from the night from my daddy.

clever trick.

Last night my best friend Amanda and I drove down to Portland's east side...
(the side of Portland my sister says i look like I am from) We went down to
the Wonder Ballroom for and AMAZING concert... Landon Pigg (Love in a Coffee
Shop) and of course my personal favorite...A FINE FRENZY. Ally Sudol is and
has been a favorite of mine for quite sometime..and thankfully Amanda shares
the same love for emotional music as i do. Had some drinks in the upstairs
bar during the opening bands... but of course when ms. sudol was ready to
play we dug our way to the front of the stage...(okay okay Amanda dragged me
up there! But i am just not a pushy concert goer) The show was incredible
and wouldn't have been the same had she not played and had i not teared up to
my most favorite song ever: ALMOST LOVER and thanks to amanda for the should
to cry on.

Now are you just about dying over this new vintage addition to my closet? Yes!
I am talking bout the red silk, sequin and beaded blouse i bought this week at
one of the east side vintage shops. It pretty much wears phenominally... and i
only have a few minor touch ups needing to be repaired in the sequin department.
But this piece has gotta be one of my new favorites!

LA love.

Tia. oh my amazing friend from all over the place...currently reppinLA...
she was in town for work. And that of course means time for us to play.
Like EVERY weekend Tia is in town we both decided to do
some much needed
Goodwill shopping which meant finding some hot hot vintage items but
of course not getting out downtown til about 11. Parking
was then a tragedy
so unfortunately we both gotta even later start on a way late night out.

(check the gold necklace: my goodwill find of the day-
its GIVENCHY baby!)

East...once again...twice in one week? well ya. always loving the NY vibe
and thankfully we went cuz the DJ was off the hook. Made for such
an amazing night...drinking...catching up on our lives. plans.boys.shopping...
bumpin to the beats...gotta little shakin that booty in toward the end of
the night. Cannot wait to go back..too bad Tia was only on loan for the
weekend. Next time you see her..it's gonna be cuz i am trippin it up down
in my hometown visiting Tia. (Hopefully in November..fingers crossed)

whiskey sour.

Last night. Off work late from the salon. Had to get ready fast & head
downtown to meet my girl brooke (we kickit at the dance studio/she's
a stunning fashion week rep). Her man was spinnin at East (swanky
little NY scene lounge in SW) and i just needed a little whiskey and
venting after last week's heartbreak. One thing i can say about my
relationship gone sour...(or rather him freaking the f*** out)...is that
it's kept me skinny as can be. Able to throw whatever the hell i want
on and feel amazing. Rockin that body out! Threw on my skin tight jeans
and hot black snakeskin platform heels... belted this blue sequin top
(my thriftstore find) with a vintage black braided belt to show off a bit
of sexy midriff and dropped the neckline off the shoulder (so wish i had
a full body shot of the outfit...everyone was in LOVE with it) So glam yet
so laidback. And sexy as anything.

amazing what a postbreakup body does for the wardrobe.

kisses.

Silver sequin sack dress... (what an unfortunate cut for such a stunning
post boy body) And i also always have a need to show off those long gams
of mine. Solution = a belt seemed to most definately do the trick cinched in
just the right spot. compliments??
